‘Digital Arrest’ Scam: One Smart Decision Saved ₹12 Lakhs Posing as police officers, fraudsters threatened a young man with ‘digital arrest.’ By instilling fear of fabricated crimes and keeping him on a video call, they subjected him to immense psychological pressure. However, thanks to timely vigilance and the prompt intervention of the Cyber Police, a major financial fraud amounting to approximately ₹12 lakhs was averted. ⚠️ Important Notice: One right decision averted a major loss. ☆ Points to Remember ☆ The official census process never requests OTPs or bank details via phone or WhatsApp. If you receive any link regarding "Caste-based Census Registration," do not open it without proper verification. Government officials never ask for personal financial information. How to Protect Yourself? Do not click on unknown links. Do not share your OTP, PIN, or password with anyone. Provide information only on official government websites. Immediately block suspicious calls or messages. In Case of Fraud: Immediately call the Cyber Helpline at 1930. File a complaint on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. Contact your nearest Cyber Police Station.
